And our league Junior League of Springfield is very proud of that historic reputation, but as society changes, we adapt and evolve. We strive to put our venerable values to work in modern ways; demonstrating our pride and perpetuating our legacy by serving as a powerful voice for action, justice and change throughout Sangamon County. Together, we are working to empower our members to aid in our mission to create a food secure Sangamon County. We are committing to reaching our goal of eradicating food insecurity. Become a Driving Force of Change Within Your Community

We accept new members in the spring and summer, and our application period is now open. When new members apply, they are invited to join a multi-week class that provide them with the tools and information they’ll need to play a crucial role in the Junior League of Springfield’s current community goal of eradicating food insecurity.

The Junior League of Springfield is:

  • affiliated with the Association of Junior Leagues International, an organization comprised of almost 300 member Leagues representing more than 193,000 members in four countries.
  • women making a difference in the Springfield community.
  • a way to meet new people, explore new volunteer opportunities, and have fun!

We reach out to women of all races, religions and ethnicities who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.

League membership includes provisional members, active members and supporting members, called “sustainers.”

​An important aspect of the JLS mission is to train its members for effective participation in the community. Considerable emphasis is placed on training in areas of organization, leadership, financial management and other areas where members express an interest. Training is accomplished through the following courses:

  • The Membership Development course for New Members;
  • Leadership experience serving as JLS officers, committee chairs and in other elected positions
  • Workshops offered to all members
  • AJLI conferences and trainings.

Junior League of Springfield’s Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicants must be 21 by September to be eligible for membership.
  2. Applicants must reside within Sangamon County and surrounding areas.

We hold several recruitment events throughout the summer and fall, leading up to our initial training session.
